Costs
If you need us to bring or defend an employment tribunal claim, the costs will vary depending on the complexity of the issues and the amount of days spent at the employment tribunal hearing. In terms of the average range of costs for a tribunal case from start to finish, a case that only takes one day in the tribunal may cost approximately £3500 plus vat in total. At the other end of the scale, a case which takes five days to be heard could cost as much as £18000 plus vat in total. This is based on our hourly rates which range from £195 an hour to £245 an hour plus VAT. These figures would normally be comprehensive and would not normally include any further costs or disbursements.
If you have a business and are looking for a fixed price retainer agreement, we can offer that service. The cost would depend on the size of your workforce and your claims history.
We can do most things for a fixed fee, and are happy to provide a quote, once we understand the precise nature of the issue and the likely time spent in advising.
The Employment Tribunal system has suffering delays for a number of years now. Even a one day hearing is often taking 9 months to be heard, and 4 or 5 day hearings can typically take 18 months. If you have legal expenses insurance, you are entitled to insist on the lawyers of your choice, so you can insist on us handling your claim, regardless of what your insurer says. In those circumstances, we would then be paid by your insurer for the work done on your case from the time when the claim is prepared and submitted to the Employment Tribunal.
