Martin & Co was established in Manchester by John Martin in 1999. John had previously held senior positions in large firms, but wanted to create Manchester’s first specialist employment solicitors to offer a very personal service on employment matters at very competitive rates.

We also handle nearly all of our own advocacy in the employment tribunal rather than involve a barrister at the last minute, which means that the client benefits from continuity throughout a case.
We advise in respect of all aspects of employment law in Manchester, the north west region and beyond. We regularly appear in the employment tribunals in Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and farther afield, bringing and defending employment law claims.
We act for both companies and individuals in respect of employment matters, and indeed the split is about half and half. This allows us to see things from both perspectives, which gives us an advantage.
In terms of individuals, we act for all levels of employee, from company directors downwards, and advise on all aspects of employment law including executive terminations, settlement agreements, discrimination claims and unfair dismissal claims in the employment tribunal.
In terms of employers, we act for a major charity with over 1000 employees, a significant construction company, Europe’s biggest giftware packing producer, further education colleges and a number of independent schools. We also act for many SME’s in sectors like construction, IT, printing, manufacturing and packaging.
